Creativity of Kolam - 2015

Hinduism will celebrating Deepavali (Diwali / The Festival of Lights) in November in Malaysia. This year, the Deepavali fall on Nov 10. People in different regions in India may celebrate Diwali on various dates due to different ways in interpretation of traditional lunar calendars. For example, Deepavali in Tamil Nadu is celebrated in the Tamil month of Aipasi. 

Those photos was captured from entrance place of shopping mall (Suria KLCC) and LRT station. The decorative designs of 'kolam' which are decorated out of coloured rice or beans into fascinating patterns of flowers.

Hot-air balloons Fiesta come back again in the land of Malaysia.

More than
20 balloonists from 13 countries including Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, USA, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, UK, Thailand, Vietnam, India, France and Malaysia, display their most vibrant airborne creation.

Free Malaysia Heritage Walk

I love to 'WALK' within place I lived, especially when travel overseas is become a 'luxurious' for me.

How happy I am when I know that there are group of people (who call themselves Be Tourist) conducted the free walk.

Malaysia Heritage Walk is free, starting from the meeting point of Central Market’s Door Entrance at 10.30am every day.

From Central Market itself, the walk took us past historical landmarks like Masjid Jamek to appreciate its Islamic architecture and Moghul and Moorish designs, Lebuh Ampang which was originally made famous by the Chettiar community from South India after they established money-lending establishments along this road, Jalan Tun H.S.Lee previously known as High Street with some of the oldest shophouses around, the Lebuh Pasar Besar or Old Market Square where Yap Ah Loy used to run his opium and gambling dens, and Jalan Hang Kasturi where the row of shophouses known for selling dried seafood and Chinese herbs, are left with just one or two today dealing in the same trade.

I took the Free-walk few months back.

Those are some of my sharing.

Every building have their own story behind.

We respect each others religion.

Skywatch Friday : Kuala Lumpur

Sultan Abdul Samad building.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is located in front of the Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square). The Sultan Abdul Samad Building was originally known as "The New Government Offices". It is one of the oldest buildings in KL. AC Norman (architect) and CE Spooner (state enginner) have been credited for the creation of this building.The predominantly Moorish appearance of the building suitably reflects the cultural background of Malaysia.

Managed to capture this photo using my handphone.
Everything is in quick, the hawkers brought in their big umbrellas to shed the stalls , some covered the food, clothes, vegetables.

Skywatch Friday ~ A day to Jesselton

Special thanks to Air Asia's slogan sound "Everyone can fly".
We managed to get cheaper air ticket to Kota Kinabalu / Jesselton on last Saturday.

We took the earliest flight. The flight taken about two and half hours.

We had Sarawak noodles as the starter for the day.
After the breakfast, we were heading to Kota Kinabalu's Jetty.

We were lucky for the sunny beautiful weather.

The Tunku Abdul Rahman marine park, which is located about 15-20 minutes's by boat from jetty.
(The Tunku Abdul Rahman Part consist of five idyllic islands - Sulug, Gaya, Manukan, Mamutik and Sapi)

Our way to Mamuntik Island.

Uncrowded beach, clear waters, hot sun --- is the perfect gateway for us.

We took 10 minutes boat from Mamuntik Island to Manukan Island.
(So convenient here to hop from one island to another island)

Wonders of Nature : Sipadan - the diving heaven

The Kapalai Dive Resort. Sipadan-Kapalai Dive Resort is accessible through Semporna, Sabah Malaysia where the Pulau Sipadan Resort and Tours Jetty Office is.

Sipadan Island, a jewel in the Celebes Sea, is renowned for its spectacular diving amongst unspoilt coral reefs, with a 600m (2000ft) vertical drop off just near the beach, and numerous turtles frequenting its clear waters. Sipadan lief odd the south-eastern coast of Sabah, and is Malaysia's only true oceanic island.

Motive Sabah

Sabah in East Malaysia lies in the north-east corner of Borneo and was known as the 'Land Below The Wind' by maritime traders during ancient times, because it lies below the typhoon belt.

We (10 of us) flied from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu (Capital of Sabah) yesterday for 1 day tour. The Air Asia flight took two and half hours to reach KK.
Normally, people will take about 3 - 4 days to tour around those tourist spot.

However 'craziest us' done it unusual from what the usual people did.
Thou we did not covered some of the tourist spot.

Skywatch Friday : Sky above Pudu Jail

Hooray, it's another Skywatch Friday !!

It was early morning , around 7.30am - 8am. The sky was dull .

I was stand not far away from a 114 years old building which to be demolished (part been demolished) soon to make way for a road expansion and tunnel project on Jalan Pudu.

* Pudu Prison also called Pudu Jail was build by the British in 1895 as a prison in Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur area. As such, it was used to house criminals including drug offenders and was a location for administering corporal punishment through rotan caning.




The oldest remand centre in Malaysia, built by the British Government in 1895, designed by ACA Norman. It was then called the Pudoh Gaol. The electic style is achieved through the adaptation of Moorish, Tudor, Neo-Classical and Neo Gothic styles to local architectural styles and cultures.

I am sad that KL will lost another one inreplacable landmark, the historical spot.

Creativity of Kolam - 2009

Still remember my last year post about 'KOLAM' , the rice decoration. The Kolam is a common feature during 'The Festival of Lights', adorning the entrance of Hindu homes. This intricate decoration made from coloured rice is used to invoke the blessings of The Goddess of Wealth, the deity Lakshmi.

The peacock's kolam is displayed in KLCC at Suria shopping centre.

This year, Pavilion is hosting an 'International Kolam Festival' in line with this year's Deepavali celebration.

Skywatch Friday ~ Season 4, Episode 12

We are enjoyed our day trip to Tanjong Sepat (a small fishing village in Selangor).

The bridge that extend to the fishing boat.

They called it "Lover Bridge". The couples love to hang around for sun-set bathing.

MENTION Tanjung Sepat and beaches, glorious sunsets, wooden houses and, of course, fresh seafood come to mind!
