Niagara Falls - Chutes Niagara

 A December sunrise enhances the majestic beauty of the Horseshoe Falls. It is called as Horseshoe Falls because it is in the shape of a horseshoe. 

Niagara Falls is the collective name for three waterfalls that straddle the international border between Canada and the United States. 

Many years ago, people would go over the falls in barrels! 

Now, it's illegal. 

If anyone dare to across the Niagara Falls on tight ropes ?

YES ! In 2012, Nik Wallenda did that. Wallenda became the first person to cross directly over Niagara Falls on a high wire.

Chemainus is located on the East shore of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. 

A town that was born of the hands of labourers.

Received this marvelous postcard from Claire. 

Love the way she describe her life :)

She told me  about the temperature @ Thunder Bay / Ontario / Canada 

From November and ends in May, during this cold season the temperature is 

rarely above zero and can drop to -35 degree. 

Summer starts at the beginning of June and ends in the beginning of September, 

temperature is usually above 10 degree but hardly ever rise above 20 degree.   

Calgary

She wrote behind the postcard that
" Calgary is where I live. It's a city of over one million in the Southern part of Alberta, near the Foothills of the Rocky Moutains, where Banff lies.
Because we're close to these foothills we get Chinooks in the winter. Our temperature can go from -30 degree Celsius to +20 degree Celsius in just couple of minutes. We always look forward to our Chinooks, but it's not great for flowers and trees ! Sometimes they think spring has come !"


Chinooks are most prevalent over southern Alberta in Canada, especially in a belt from Pincher Creek and Crowsnest Pass through Lethbridge, which get 30 to 35 chinook days per year on average.

The reference to a wind or weather system, simply "a Chinook", originally meaning a warming wind from the ocean into the interior regions of the Pacific Northwest (the Chinook people lived near the ocean, along the lower Columbia River). A strong Chinook can make snow one foot deep almost vanish in one day. The snow partly melts and partly evaporates in the dry wind. Chinook winds have been observed to raise winter temperature, often from below −20°C (−4°F) to as high as 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F) for a few hours or days, then temperatures plummet to their base levels.

Dominating the skyline are Scienceworld, B.C.Place and the spectacular new multi-purpose facility, General Motors Place, home of the Vancouver Canucks.

Tuscany (Italian: Toscana) is a region in Italy. The regional capital is Florence.

Tuscany is known for its landscapes and its artistic legacy. Six Tuscan localities have been UNESCO protected sites: the historical center of Florence (1982), the historical center of Siena (1995), the square of the Cathedral of Pisa (1987), the historical center of San Gimignano (1990), the historical center of Pienza (1996) and the Val d'Orcia (2004).

The last / 8th small photo shows the Il Campo from Torre del Mangia, is the architectural treasure, and is famous for hosting the Palio horse race. The building surrounding is call The Palazzo Pubblico, itself a great work of architecture, houses yet another important art museum.

I'm so much impress with the collage stamp.

" wackystuff was born in New York and raised in Central Pennsylvania, the Ozarks of the North East. In 1976, he started a novelty button company, designing and producing thousands of original buttons, magnets, stickers, and cards. After living in San Francisco, then rural Southern Oregon, he sold his company (Ephemera) and retired to Victoria BC, with his Canadian wife. Now he keeps busy giving away his art to folks in the various internet groups he plays in."
