Whale watching activity at Guishan Island, Yilan

" Guishan Island is the largest island of Yilan County. With the growing popularity of whale watching, Guishan Island has become the hottest tourist attraction."

The shaped board postcard was sent from Lyo, Japan.
As a postcrosser, we send and received postcards from different countries.
But I feel so much happier when I received from Japan instead,
The reasons are
1) neat hand-writing from the postcrosser
2) the pretty stamps
3) never-disappointing postcard

Fall season in Chiayi, Taiwan

The red leaves seems like maple leave.

Alishan has always been a popular Taiwan tourist spot all-year-round, where one may find different kinds of plants and creatures.

Two appealing seasons are,
March to April : Cherry blooms
November to January : Red maples

The Zhushan Lookout in the Alishan Forest Recreation Area would be a wonderful spot to enjoy the wild range of magnificent Taiwan maples. Especially during sunset, the flaming maples along the sea of clouds, as well as bird chirping make it a memorable place for Taiwan travel.

Taiwan Coastal View

A beautiful postcard from Purplesunny Chang of Taiwan.

According to most of the review, the most spectacular coastal scenery can be find in the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area (東北角暨宜蘭海岸國家風景區).
The coastal stretching 102.5km from Nanya, east of Jiufen.
It could be a good place to visit for a day trip from Taipei or Keelung.

East Coast, Sansiantai

img-Y15134114-0001 - Copy

Sansiantai (Chinese 三仙台 or Terrace of the Three Immortals ) is an area containing a beach and several islands located on the coast of Taitung County, Taiwan. Sansientai is a 3 hectares wide coral island. This island is covered with gigantic rocks and offers several scenic spots such as fossils, valley, wells, cave, pond, cliff and fishing platform.

Legends have it that once upon a time, three famous immortals rested on this island ; this is why it is named the Three Fairy Island.

Salt industry in Taiwan

Thank you to Brian Wu to send me this postcard from Taiwan.

According to Brian, the image shows the cargo train carrying salt in Bu Dai, Chia Yi, southwestern coast of Taiwan.
The salt industry in Taiwan has been on downgrade. The wagons, the diesel locomotives & the railways have been decommissioned & scrapped since about 20 years ago. There are only a few salt pans left there.
