Perth, Western Australia's Capital City, is famous for being the most isolated city in the World.

Table Mountain, South Africa

" A classic late evening view of Table Mountain from Bloubergstrand." Cape Town

A unique feature of the Table Mountain National Park is that it is primarily an open access Park with only three points where conservation fees are payable, Cape of Good Hope, Boulders and Silvermine, the rest of the Park is open access and free for all to enjoy.

The flat top of the mountain is often covered by clouds/mist/fog spilling over the top to form the "table cloth".

The main tower is 187 metres high and serves as a restaurant and water tower.
It also has a Viewing Sphere which rises to 123 meters above sea level and completes a full round turn every 30 minutes.

Oaxaca , Mexico

Thank you to Belinda for willing to send me this postcard during her trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.

Oaxaca State is located in the south-east portion of Mexico. It is bounded in the north by Veracruz and Puebla, in the east by Chiapas, in the west by Guerrero and in the south by the Pacific Ocean. The name of Oaxaca comes from the Nahuatl word Huayacac. Its roots are Huaxin (kind of acacia) and Yacalt (peak, edge, top), top of the acacias.

Oaxaca, the State Capital, declared Humanity’s Cultural Patrimony by UNESCO, owes its fame to the beauty and harmony of its architecture, the richness of its cultural traditions, the wide variety of its typical foods, and its soft temperate climate, spring-like throughout the year.

And what excited me about.....

Belinda also get me Michael deMeng autograph on the postcard as well.

What a happy day for me :)

* The postmark was stamped on 31 Oct' 08, but I only receive it today :p

Thank you so much !! I appreciate a lot.

The State Shell of Florida :
Horse Conch
The horse conch (Pleuroploca gigantea), also known as the giant band shell, has been Florida's official state shell since 1969. This shell is native to the marine waters around Florida and can grow to a length of twenty-four inches. Young horse conchs have orange-colored shells; adults have orange apertures.

At least 535 million years ago, mollusks acquired the ability to secrete a carbonate of lime solution that formed a hard, protective shell around them. The word "conch" comes from a Greek word meaning "shell."

Santa Claus as we know him today first emerged when the Dutch settlers came to Manhattan on Christmas day 1624. In Holland, Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) wore a red robe while riding a white horse, and cared a bag of gifts to fill the children's stockings.

This is a very early Nast drawing of Santa Claus created in 1865.

There is several illustrations appeared in Harper's Weekly newspapers in the years 1863 -1865.

Does Santa Claus really have an address? Who are we trying to kid? Christmas Carnivals is here with Santa Claus address.

Cayman ~ Pirates Week Festival

(The image courtesy borrowed from piratesweekfestival.com)

Pirate Week is the national Festival of the Cayman Island.

November 6 - 16, 2008

The Cayman Islands have a colourful seafaring past which is celebrated with pride during this national event. Prepare yourself for days and nights of pirate parades, costume contests, music, fireworks, sports competitions and craft fairs. Don't miss the week's kick-off - a mock pirate landing by bands of rowdy pirates who arrest the Governor in George Town Harbour, followed by a float parade of colouful costumes and local steel drum bands. In the evening the roads are closed in George Town as the whole Island parties the night away, dancing under the stars to locals and guest bands, and enjoying the local food on offer.
